Phone-Orienteering
May 15, 2021 10:00 a.m. start
Pier Park, in North Portland
For orienteering club members only
This training is for fun, and you will learn something!
Required: a charged mobile phone
In pairs, one does the role of walking or running to the controls (the “boots on the ground”). The other person, sitting with a nice cup of tea, has the map and instructs the first person on where and how to go (this person is the “control freak”). All the communication is done over cell phones. You will both learn how to communicate effectively in this setting.
Then the roles switch, so everyone has a turn at both roles.
This workshop is for orienteering club members only; and there is no fee.
This training starts at 10:00 sharp, so we can form teams and get started. Maps will be given out at the training. (Bring your own tea.)
We’ll comply with COVID requirements, which as of this posting, you must wear a mask and keep six feet distance. Not a problem between the two teammates!
Registration is required by May 13. Email Anndy Wiselogle to register and sign the waiver, to reserve a map and to get the meeting location.
