Member training - Compass Bearings and Pace Counting

  • Saturday, June 29

  • Start at 10:00 a.m. sharp; course closes at noon

  • Southeast Portland

CROC advanced trainings are held monthly with no cost for members. These workshops are either to improve individual orienteer skills on a course, or to improve the club’s ability to provide quality courses. This training gives you practice in accurate direction and distance for running a course.

Compass Bearings and Pace Counting

This training focuses on accuracy in following a compass direction over distance in the terrain. Each participant will take a bearing, calculate step count, look for an object in the horizon in that direction, and fly to it (while being observant of collecting features and utilizing potential handrails).

Location: Southeast Portland. For the exact meeting location and to reserve a map, contact Mike Kacmar by June 26, 2019.
