Zer-O Series - Hoyt Arboretum

Description

This Zero-O training features a short course at Hoyt Arboretum in SW Portland. Hoyt features a dense network of trails, lots of hills, so stamina and fine map reading skills will be tested. Note that this is a heavily used area with a sensitive landscape, so please stay on marked trails at all times.

CROC as a permanent orienteering course here. If you had fun at this zer-o event and want to try more, check out the permanent course here: croc.org  >> Training  >> Permanent Courses.

Note that parking fees are required near the visitor center. If you don't want to pay them, you can park uphill from the visitor center about 100 meters on Fairview Boulevard, which is outside the parking fee area.

Shoes with an aggressive tread are recommended, as the trails can be steep and slippery when wet.

Schedule

Starts will be open from 6:00 to 6:30. Late comers are welcome but control pick up will begin about 20 to 30 minutes after the last start or 7:00, whichever comes first.

Where to Meet

Meet at the large picnic shelter on SW Fairview. Address for Google maps: 3991 SW Fairview Blvd, 97205. This is across the street from the Hoyt Arboretum visitor center. See map below.
