Event overview

We require RSVP’s for this event, as we’ll need to coordinate parking logistics and possibly start times. Please sign up on this google form: https://goo.gl/forms/84p81tIpC66lgRzV2.

Come out and try mountain bike orienteering (MTBO) at a brand new CROC location, Growlers Gulch. Growlers is located near Castle Rock, WA, about an hour’s drive north of Portland.

As this is a mountain bike event, we highly recommend using a mountain bike over another type of bike, and helmets are required.

The terrain we’ll be using for the event is an Advanced Beginner/Intermediate skill level, with all of the competition taking place on single track trails and logging roads.

TIMES

After you pre-register, you will be assigned a start time. Starts will begin at 10am.

On-site registration will open at 9am where we will hand out e-sticks and you can sign a waiver.

Time limit on the course is 3 hours; you must be back within 3 hours after your start.

All teams must check out through the course finish gate before leaving the park, even if the team does not finish the course or returns after the course closes.

RESULTS

Results are posted to the Events & Results web page a few days after the event.

COURSES

MTBO events come in three different lengths: Sprint, Middle and Long, with a Sprint often lasting less than 20 minutes and a Long sometimes over 2 hours. This race will be a Middle Distance with 15-18 control checkpoints you will need to reach in consecutive order as quickly as you can.
Electronic timing/scoring (E-punch) will be used for this event. We’ll have e-sticks available to use.

REGISTRATION AND EVENT COSTS

There are no registration fees for this event - it’s free! If you feel compelled to make a donation, any money raised will help support the US MTBO Team travel and compete at the 2017 World Championships being held in Vilnius, Lithuania this August. Two team members will be at Growlers to answer questions and share information about getting more involved in the sport.

LOCATION & DRIVING DIRECTIONS

Please RSVP to participate by using this Google Form link. After we have a good sense of how many people are coming we’ll coordinate parking logistics and send out driving directions. This should be about a week out from the event.
