Schedule: Instructions and mass start at 10 AM. (An RSVP is required so that we have a map for you.)
Where to Meet: Grant Park. Meet on NE US Grant Place, on the sidewalk along the edge of the park, east of NE 33rd, about halfway between NE 33rd and NE 36th.
Format: Motala (1-person relay)
Course and Map Notes: This is a new map, so if you encounter a map issue, please let us know. Much of what normally would be mapped as white forest is mapped as open land with individual trees mapped. Where the trees are dense enough to make that approach impractical, the area is mapped as white forest. The map is mostly city park, but also includes Grant High School, so there is a small element of urban orienteering. Due to the small size of the map, even at 1:4000, and the large number of control locations, this will be a motala, or 1-person relay. There will be 4 maps with 2 printed on each side of an 8.5x11 sheet of paper. At the final control on each of the first 3 maps you will head to the first control on the next map. Maps 2, 3, and 4 each show the previous map’s final control so you can see the leg from that control to the first control on the new map. On map 4, the final leg goes to the finish (marked with the double circle on the map), not the map exchange control where the 1st 3 maps’ courses end. You will notice a few legs are repeated, a few are reversed, and several controls are used multiple times.
The total distance is 4.6km (as the crow flies). Of course you can choose to do 1, 2, 3, or all 4 courses.
Potluck: None
