The weather was warm and clear for this year's meet at Minto-Brown Park in Salem. The five courses -- White, Yellow, Orange, Green and Gray (a 5-mile long version of White) attracted 49 participants in 26 teams, including a three-generation family from Sweden. Due to the warm sun, the sprinklers in the corn field on the fifth leg of the Orange course were very welcome. However, the thistle patch around the first control on the Green course caused some problems, especially for the Swedish visitors who are not used to our Pacific Northwest vegetation.
